Silent Running True Hybrid System

All Day Screening
Maintenance and Repair Costs Reduced
Noise and Vibration Free Environment
Environmently Friendly
Return On Investment

This silent running true hybrid system - STHS has been specifically designed for the NHS and other medical applications by Lynton Trailers. This system was trialled for 6 months in 2017, then went fully operational on a medical training unit in August 2018.

Its success was followed by delivery of 3 single x-ray room and 1 twin x-ray room MBSU into full operational service in March 2019. Currently in manufacture are a further 7 MBSU utilising our silent, efficient and environmentally friendly STHS.

The batteries and associated controls are derived from a proven system that has been used for several years on numerous applications. The STHS utilises a genverter rather than a standard generator.

The genverter utilises a highly efficient permanent magnet alternator connected straight to the DC power cubes which convert to AC power.

This STHS allows full screening to take place throughout the working day without the need to run a generator thus achieving silent operation.

The design of the STHS gives significant advantages:

Key Points

  • 75% reduction of fuel bill over standard diesel generators
  • 75% lower carbon footprint through a reduction in emissions
  • Provides noise and vibration free environment during screening hours
  • Roof mounted solar panels provide 20% of daily power requirement
  • Maintenance & repair cost reduced by 50%
  • The MBSU can be fully powered from just a 13amp standard 3 pin domestic socket

Different Scenarios

Scenario 1: No Landline (NoMains)
Hybrid system in operations
During our extensive trails and our experience with our units in the field we have found that the genverter will need to charge batteries before screening for 2.5 hours, 1 hour at lunch time and 2.5 hours after screening in the evening
Scenario 2: 13 amp Landline (Standard house plug)
Hybrid system in operations
The genverter does not run at all if the 13 amp landline (STD house plug) is connected, however the genverter will charge the batteries in the event of a power failure
Scenario 3: 63 amp Landline
Hybrid system in operations
Hybrid system will automatically power the MBSU in the event of power failure and will work as stated in scenario 1
The genverter does not need to run during screening
Power to the whole MBSU
The STHS is specifically designed to be used throughout the year with maximum patient throughput, low ambient temperatures have been taken into account and will not effect the operation. In extreme low ambient temperature conditions the genverter may need to run slightly longer before screening in the morning and after screening in the evening.
